Biography

Author of “A Seat On The Aisle, Please!”

Dr. Elizabeth Kavaler, author of, “A Seat On The Aisle, Please!” is a Board Certified Urologist, practicing with New York Urological Associates where her clinical and research efforts focus mainly on disorders of the female pelvic organs. Dr. Kavaler is one of only 500 woman urologists in practice in the U.S. and is one of the preeminent experts in female urological disorders.

A native Philadelphian and dedicated city dweller, she lives with her 12-year-old daughter, Sonia, in Midtown Manhattan.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Brooklyn Medical School, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society, Dr. Kavaler completed her general surgery residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. She completed her training in urology at the same hospital before joining the staff. During that time, she collaborated with the Departments of Anatomy and Cell Biology in Innsbruck, Austria, conducting research on the fetal development of the female pelvis to gain insight into the development of pelvic floor dysfunction in post-menopausal women.

Dr. Kavaler then concluded a post-graduate fellowship in Female Voiding Dysfunction at the University of California-Los Angeles under the tutelage of one of the fathers of female urology, Dr. Shlomo Raz. She entered private practice in 2000.
